Lomi Lomi / KaHuna

Lomi Lomi / KaHunaThis powerful yet flowing full body Polynesian healing style can be deeply rejuvenating on multiple levels – physically, mentally and emotionally. Depending on your individual needs, it can be performed as a gently nurturing or a deeply vigorous massage.

Lomi lomi is the Hawaiian phrase for massage. The literal translation is “to push, pull and knead”. There are many forms, such as Heartworks Lomi Lomi and KaHuna massage therapy.

With the use of hot coconut oil, the practitioner utilises the forearms and hands in long flowing strokes over the full length of the body, with focused breath work. A meditative, healing intention and rhythmic dance like flow (tai chi-like movements) all contribute to a unique massage that heals heart, mind and muscle.

The style enables the practitioner to work at all levels of intensity with grace and ease. It makes for a deep yet flowing treatment that will leave you in a revitalised, blissful state of balance and harmony.

A minimum of 1.5 hours is recommended to gain the full effect from this style of massage, (at least initially) as it allows for a much deeper, more powerful experience. One and two hour sessions are also available.
